If Only We Would Do What the Book Says

Spiritual Strategist Valerie Dickson

With ever increasing fervency the burden the Lord placed upon my heart keeps rising with a fiery intensity. I pray about it, I post about it, and I look for evidence that it's being received. This continues to bubble up within me with such God-given passion that I will use every available means to share the message that people might begin to receive the revelation.

With no sugar coating I say to you that I am tired of watching the Body of Christ just fold their arms and passively wait to die. I have witnessed so many instances where a person receives a diagnosis that according to the doctor must end in death. They take the doctor's word for it, throw up their hands and wait for the words that were spoken over them to come to pass. This is not the way the Body of Christ is supposed to operate. If you have made Jesus Christ Savior and Lord of your life, there is absolutely no reason for sickness, illness, or disease to take up residence in your body and you just accept it as a "natural way of life".

The Bible is filled with scriptures concerning healing and we should definitely speak those over our lives and stand on them with all the fight we have in us for this is the road that leads to Divine Health. However, the Lord has revealed to me that sadly too many members of the Body of Christ have an identity problem. They do not realize who they truly are in Christ Jesus; therefore, they are unable to operate in what He has given them. It is stated that the phrase "in Christ, in Him, in Whom" is mentioned in the Bible 134 times. It's also stated that these phrases are mentioned 27 times in the book of Ephesians alone.

For the past few weeks I have been stuck in the book of Ephesians and the amazing amount of authority revealed in this book that belongs to the believer is astounding. I will share a few of these rich treasures with you from the Passion Translation.

At the very beginning of the book we are told in Ephesians 1:3, "Every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm has already been lavished upon us as a love gift from our wonderful heavenly Father, the Father of our Lord Jesus—all because He sees us wrapped into Christ. This is why we celebrate Him with all our hearts!" So from the onset we see that we have already been given EVERY spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm. Spiritual blessings do not include sickness or disease and we know from Matthew 6:10 that we are supposed to be praying heaven down to earth.

Paul prays for us and in verse 19 he says, "I pray that you will continually experience the immeasurable greatness of God’s power made available to you through faith. Then your lives will be an advertisement of this immense power as it works through you!" God's power is made available to us through our faith! That means when we put our faith to work we have a power working on the inside of us that is literally out of this world because verse 20 says, "This is the mighty power that was released when God raised Christ from the dead and exalted Him to the place of highest honor and supreme authority in the heavenly realm!"

Have you ever taken the time to meditate on or even think about the amount of God's mighty power He had to release to raise Jesus from the dead? I'm sure some of you are saying 'Well He's God, He has all power.' While this is certainly true you must take into account that authority over the earth was not God's at that time. Adam had given authority over this earth to Satan, whom Jesus called the ruler of this world in John 14:30. God had to raise Jesus up out of the pit of hell (Ephesians 4:9) with Satan and all of his demons trying to hold Him there. Psalm 22 tells the full story. God had legions of demons using their will against His will, and therefore, it took a lot more for Him to exert His power. I only placed this part in here to make a point. You have to be a student of the Word and study this out for yourself. The point that I'm making is that this exact same power that God used to raise Jesus from the dead is living on the inside of you and me (Romans 8:11)!

Paul says in 4:17 that we should not live like the unbelievers around us who walk in their empty delusions. In verse 21 he says if you have truly experienced the Anointed One and heard His truth it will be seen in your life. Verses 23-24 say, "Now it’s time to be made new by every revelation that’s been given to you. And to be transformed as you embrace the glorious Christ-within as your new life and live in union with Him! For God has re-created you all over again in His perfect righteousness, and you now belong to Him in the realm of true holiness."

The last verse I will share is Ephesians 5:1 which I am taking from the Amplified Classic Translation. It says, "Therefore be imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father].” These scriptures give us insight into who we are as believers and what we have in Christ. When you know who you are in Him you will have no problem taking those healing scriptures and using them to fight for your life tooth and nail rather than just waiting for the dreaded outcome of the negative report you've been given.

2 Peter 3:9 says it is not God's will that anyone should perish. This word perish is apollumi in the Greek and it means "to devote or give over to eternal misery in hell"

We know this is not God's will, yet there are many who are now in hell and many more who will be joining them. This is because of their own personal choice not to believe in Jesus and accept Him as their personal Savior. It is not God's fault.

Romans 10:9 says, "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." So there's the qualification to God's will up above. But did you know the word saved in this passage of scripture is sozo in the Greek and it means "to save a suffering one (from perishing), i.e. one suffering from disease, to make well, heal, restore to health"?

So to bring this all home, there are many variables as to why some people get healed and some don't, but absolutely none of them are on God. This is because of our own personal choice not to believe in His Word regarding healing and to do what it says. Again, it is not God's fault. Just like it is His will that no one should perish, it is also His will that no one be sick. He's given us the antidote to both of these so the ball is not in His court, it is totally in ours. We are supernatural beings living a natural experience; however, God has given us the ability to bring the supernatural into our lives through His Holy Spirit and the use of His Word.

So, brothers and sisters I implore you, please stop living under the natural laws of this world laying down to sickness and disease and start rising up as the supernatural beings that you are! By all means, just do what the book says! Demand sickness and disease to leave your body and mean it! If you put forth some tenacity and stand on God's Word no matter what, He will most surely back it up! Start now planting some healing scriptures so deep in your spirit that they work as a shield to repel any sickness or disease that tries to come against you now and in the future.

The Body of Christ is the most powerful entity on the face of this earth and everything Jesus did while He was here, we can do too! He said even greater! So make up your mind that from this day forward you are going to walk in the place of Divine Health that already belongs to you. Remember, it's not going to happen automatically - just like salvation you have to take hold of it and not let it go!
