Blooming Through the Cracks: 6 Important Reasons to Invest in Personal Development

Investing in yourself is the best investment you will ever make. It will not only improve your life, it will improve the lives of all those around you.” Robin Sharma

There are always goals to meet and records to beat in this world. As a society built on competition, there is never a limited number of “things” you should be doing to “become successful”. The “oh shiny object” syndrome is very real and it is quite easy to get distracted by what others have and what others are doing.

I got caught up in the rat race of:

Taking one more course. Getting one more degree.

Attending that one conference of the year.

Ordering a few more self-help, entrepreneurship, business growing or book writing books from Amazon.

It’s imperative to understand the power in becoming a better YOU. It’s not all about degrees and certifications, but it is about doing whatever it takes to become a smarter, more effective, more dynamic version of yourself. The longevity of your success is directly connected to how you invest in your own personal growth. The personal development world has seen its fair share of ups and downs. There were times when personal development wasn’t recognized if you didn’t receive the training through your corporate sponsor (aka your job).

Then, the uptick of self-paced personal development began to rise. Now, there seems to a growing balance between corporate training and self-learning. With companies such as Udemy, personal development is right at our fingertips. We can take a course on graphic design or attend coaching sessions for clearing our minds. Whether we decide to take technical courses to enhance our skills or we take interpersonal classes to improve our inner beings, personal growth is necessary to overall success in life.

Here are 6 important reasons to invest in personal development.

1. You’re more marketable with increased personal development. How marketable you are really depends on how much time you’ve spent learning your craft, improving your craft, and building your knowledge base. Personal development is the first step in being a great choice for a new employer, a promotion, or a large contract.

2. You can hone your skills without the price tag of a degree. Obtaining a degree or multiple degrees definitely have a place in our lives, but that’s not the only way you can seek personal growth and development. Taking a few classes online or attending a personal development conference could be exactly what you need.

3. It helps you focus on ways to strengthen your strengths. Focus on your strengths. Make them stronger. Do the work to make yourself better. Identify your best skills and make them stronger.

4 It helps you learn how to build a team around your weaknesses. When you focus on personal development, it makes it easier to develop the team you need to thrive in business and life. When we know more about ourselves, we understand what weaknesses we possess and who will need to help us fill the gaps our weaknesses may create.

5. Your self-awareness improves as you invest in personal development. You begin to learn what parts of your life you need to truly work on in order to grow. Through personal development, you find out where your faith lies and where unforgiveness may be lingering in your heart. Personal development is the cornerstone of self-awareness.

6.You become more efficient and effective at what you do. The purpose of personal Development is to create a lifelong learner out of us all. There will always be something

we can improve upon to assist in getting to the next level. Personal development is the ladder needed to move upward. When you’re ready to do more, deep dive into your personal growth, and you’ll see great things happen.

Investing in your own personal development will directly benefit you the most. But it will also benefit those around you. Becoming the best version of yourself is the key to creating and living the life you were created to have.
