Hey sis, it's not about you!
I woke up today on the wrong side of the bed. Frustrated, overwhelmed and downright discouraged. Every so often when I'm feeling discouraged I seek out resources to just quit the business to find a job and just leave all of this behind. Then I'm quickly reminded, "Hey sis, this journey is not about you". I think about the story of Jesus and how He had to carry the cross all the way to Calvary. I know He wanted to throw the cross down and tell the world to "live it, how they get it" lol can you imagine Jesus chucking up the deuces. I'm not at all comparing my struggles to the crucifixion of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, but what if Christ had of given up on us in the mist of His struggle the way we give up on others? Let’s really think about it, life can be a biscuit, it has its highs and super lows, especially in entrepreneurship. When you’re trying to be the one to help change the world through your witty tactics and God-driven gifts and BOOM right in the middle of your pursuit life happens. I know, right when things seem to increase in size the desire of quitting becomes a lot clearer. You start to justify why quitting is the best thing to do for you and your family. You begin finding alternate routes to try and avoid the big hole you’ve seemed to fall into.
But ask yourself this, "If I quit, who am I giving up on?"
Let's think about the business you're building or desire to build. You're thinking about what it will take to get this business to the level of success you desire. You’re thinking about how much time it'll take, how much money you'll have to invest and the moment you allow the facts of business building to seep into your thoughts you begin to doubt what you can produce. Does this sound familiar? What about the person who's already knee deep into business, waking up early and going to bed late trying to figure out the secret formula to success. The inconsistent sleep patterns and bank account balances are driving you insane and you feel like you're at the point of no return. Sounds familiar? I hate to be the one to bring the news, but sis the dream is not about you, it's about those you are called to impact. Why do you think the struggle is so hard? The moment you decided to build a kingdom driven business was the moment you opened your world to supernatural weapons.
The weapons that come in the middle of your dreams, mid-thought and even in your finances. The weapons that don’t come in the form of knives or guns, but the weapons that come in the form of thoughts, fears and doubt. Isaiah 54:17 reads “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgement thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me.” Man did you feel that, it says this protection is the heritage of those who serve Christ. He didn’t say the weapons wouldn’t be formed, He said they SHALL NO Prosper. Don’t let the sight of the weapon do more harm than what its intentions. The weapon is an illusion don’t let the weapon win sis.
I know, I know you just can't seem to understand why you must be the one to go through what feels like HELL to help someone else. Let’s change our perspective on the matter. Our actions are judged based off the intentions of the heart (Proverbs 21:2) right? So if you’re heart is committed, no matter what you go through you’re willing to stand the storm. This is why it’s so important to build your business from your WHY, your WHY is rooted in your heart and your actions should reflect the intent of your heart. If you’re building a business from the WHY (root of your heart) your actions, regardless of the circumstances will remain pure. If I’m genuinely seeking to help others through my WHY, I won’t allow the weapons to harm me because I know on the other side I’m helping someone else through. Your struggle is designed to build character (James 1:3), the testing of your faith builds perseverance. These things are all essential when trying to help the next person through their situation. Remember the best teacher is experience.
Sis, it’s not about you!
If I could share 3 ways to help you maintain focus on your WHY while building your kingdom-driven prosperous business I would share this:
Change your perspective. Change the way you view your weapons. They are formed against you, but they shall not prosper. Instead of allowing the weapons to defeat you use them to defeat the world.
Keep in mind, it’s not about you. Don’t focus on your victories, focus on the people you’ve been called to impact and their victories. You will find comfort in the results of others.
Be grateful. You were chosen. Many are called (Matthew 22:14), but only few are chosen. God saw you best fit. Embrace it and know that He’s got your back.
Your call on life is the reason God saw fit for you to make it through today. Don’t abort the dream when the weapons begin to form, giving birth is fight, but He equipped you handle it. The dream isn’t just for you to see, it’s for the world to experience.
Be Blessed xoxo,
